Reno Pallet Rack
Pallet Racks in Silver Springs, NV
Silver Springs is approximately 45 miles from Reno at US-50 and US-95A. USA Parkway, SR-439, arrives from I-80 and TRIC through an approximately 18-mile connector. Storage planning here should distinguish an operating warehouse’s loads from the opportunities associated with future industrial development. A large land area does not establish occupied storage capacity.
Selective pallet rack, cantilever and drive-in concepts offer different access patterns for equipment staging, contractor supplies and bulk materials. Define what must be stored now, which products need individual retrieval and what inventory would justify additional storage later. That separation keeps the initial drawing tied to the business rather than a development forecast.
Treat industrial acreage as context, not inventory
Northern Nevada Industrial Center spans roughly 20,000 acres on the Lyon and Storey county line. Phase I has more than 1,100 developable acres planned for up to eight million square feet. Preserve that planned status rather than describing all the area as operating warehouses or treating it as evidence of a completed local installation.
Silver Springs Airport is one mile west of the highway junction, with hundreds of acres available for aviation-related and general industry. Data-center campus tracts have been rezoned, and existing industrial includes a 160,000-square-foot Opal Avenue building. Each location still requires an actual building and material schedule before rack capacity can be specified.
Classify contractor and equipment loads by handling
Separate palletized components, oversized packages, long materials and loose handling units. Document dimensions, support points, maximum weights and the lifting method. Equipment staging can include goods that look similar but distribute their weight differently, so a conventional pallet footprint alone is not a sufficient description of the intended load.
Selective rack can preserve access by item or job assignment. Cantilever may suit long products needing several support points and an open front. Verify the movement of the full-length load between receiving, storage and dispatch. A bundle that fits on its supports still needs room to turn out of the position.
Identify inventory suitable for deeper lanes
Drive-in can be evaluated for substantial quantities of matching pallets as NNIC develops. Lane depth should follow actual quantities and an acceptable retrieval sequence. A varied collection of equipment packages needing separate release dates is a different storage problem from reserve pallets of one bulk product that can share a channel.
Record pallet construction, width, depth and overhang alongside weight. Confirm truck clearance and rail compatibility for every intended load family. Provide separate access for mixed pallets or goods that cannot follow the lane’s withdrawal pattern. Do not let the total position count conceal those exceptions to the storage method.
Use measurable conditions to plan expansion
Track occupancy by inventory group, replenishment movements, staging accumulation and quantities per item. These measurements establish whether further selective bays or deeper reserve are warranted. Keep receiving and outbound working areas visible when considering another storage block. Extra rack does not resolve congestion caused by unnamed temporary holding locations.
Label concepts with confirmed dimensions and assumptions. A future development footprint may change, while the current inventory still needs a workable arrangement. In non-air-conditioned space, summer heat and freezing winter nights affect installation crew tasks and exposed staging. Plan handover by usable zones so operations can continue around the new storage.
